Food Safety Tips for College Students
When students pack up for college, they take along the basics - TV, laptop, MP3 player and cell phone. Many students will also arrive at school with a microwave oven, tabletop grill, mini-fridge and toaster-oven in tow. Most students, however, don't know there are food safety considerations when cooking with these appliances. Download Food Safety Tips for College Students

Reading Comprehension Tips
![]() It is important to remember that different types of materials are read at different speeds. A novel is faster reading than a textbook. Time yourself at the beginning of a semester after reading one chapter of your textbook. That will give you an idea of how long you need to plan to study throughout the year. The Big Tests: How Does the PSAT Fit into the Picture?
![]() Each October, the College Board offers an abbreviated version of the SAT called the PSAT. Though rarely spelled out, this stands for Preliminary SAT. The PSAT is basically a shorter version of the SAT with three parts: verbal, math, and writing. The writing section consists only of multiple choice grammar questions; no essay is required. Scored on a scale of 20 to 80 for each section, the test has a maximum score of 240. The reading and math questions are based on the same subject matter and have the same format as the SAT. Students register for the PSAT through their school rather than through the College Board directly. They take the test in mid-October and receive their scores, along with their test booklet and an analysis of their correct and incorrect answers, in mid-December. GCSEs
GCSEs for those of you across the pond that are unfamiliar with the degree, is a set of exams taken at the end of year 11 (age sixteen). On average students take 10 subjects over a course of two years, at the end of which we are rewarded for our hard efforts with 10 exams (at least 2 papers per subject). As of yet I have completed paper one of each science (biology, chemistry and physics), all of my Spanish exams (3 in total), and one English paper. If I were to say how they were going my outlook would be cloudy, but I am afraid to admit my linguistic skills or lack thereof failed me in Spanish. Luckily it is not a necessary requirement for medicine Download GCSEs
