Paying for College / Financial Aid for Colege Students![]() It would appear that now-a-days kids making little money or even having one parent instead of two in the house hold can work in that students favor. Over the years it’s been looked at as a negative thing. However, is it really so negative now that community colleges are “paying students” to attend their schools? The likely-hood of a student getting into these schools is almost guaranteed even if there are a few down-sides to the situation. So let’s get into it then. The Couch Potato Okay, so, thousands of people every day do nothing but sit and stare either into a computer monitor, a T.V screen, or even a blank wall. Each of which is a solace waste of time. Well, in most cases these things are a waste of time anyhow. So, the solution – go to school. And some of you may say; “well I don’t have the money, or the time to go to school.” Schools like Illinois Central College (a community college housed in Peoria Illinois; and more specifically – the East Peoria campus) are large community colleges that will pay certain students to attend classes regularly. Based on ones preferred schedule of study, financial pre-disposition and other smaller scale aspects – the student can receive more than $5000 over the course of the school year. The Time Issue So you say that you’ve got no time for school. But the problem seems to be that you’ve got time to sit and doodle all day. Turn those doodles into some kind of income. Did you know that most of the time a student going to a community college will get the same class depth as with a student going to a huge ivy-league school? It’s true, the only real differences are that you can spend more time at a four year college/university then with a two year college; and community colleges cost much less. However, potentially, one would be getting the same relative information. And that’s the honest-to-goodness truth. A list of the sort of financial-assistants that one can receive. Source: Google Images But like with all things, there are a few downsides Now, as with all things, there are a few downsides. • The first is that it is difficult to be respected by nearly anyone. Remember most people still think that if they go to a four year college, they are better than a person that has only gone to a two year college. But keep your head up, and remember that community college is just your start at getting into a four year college. If you should-so decide to go down that rout. • Also, when it comes to financial aid. The money that a student is to receive can be easily taken away for a few slip-ups. One who is on financial assistance may have to pay that money back if: o Grades drop below a certain level o If classes are being skipped too much o If work isn’t being completed You know that sort of thing. Regardless of the matter, however, the money shouldn’t be the most important aspect of getting into or getting back into school. College can mean bettering your life and even enriching it for the rest of your life. It could mean getting not only yourself but your family and those that you love around you out of “shittfy situations”. "The End is What I Strive For" At the end of the day, it’s my goal to get myself and my family out of the cycle. To get those I love to a point where stereo types won’t matter. To, at the end of my life, be somewhere where no one can relax and even pass in peace. So I guess what I’m trying to say is, “The end is what I strive for”. |
