There was never a better feeling than the day I stepped on Baylor University's campus for the first time as a real student. Oh, I had been there before, but never as a real student with a real student ID. I knew this was where I needed to be, but I still had my concerns. Would I meet anybody, would they like me, would I like them, and what about my roommate?

Looking for a way to skip introductory courses in college? Perhaps you want to avoid those courses to get to the meatier matter, or maybe you're looking for a good way to save money on your college education. Either way, the College Level Entrance Placement (CLEP) exams are well worth your time. CLEP exams are owned by the CollegeBoard (the same people who write the SAT), but their goal is considerably different from that of its better-known counterpart.

Both my mom and dad cried when I went away to school. And now that I’m married I already think about my kids growing up and experiencing what I did – only worse! I attended a University and a College (only graduated one year ago), so I know about life at school. Over my four years in post-secondary school, I lived one year in an apartment style dorm, one year in a single room dorm, one year in a townhouse dorm and one year at home. I know parents have a lot of worries about the college experience, so from one parent to another, this is what I experienced.

In my job as a student services rep in a university admissions office, I hear a lot of odd questions on a day-to-day basis. Some are legitimate, a few are just out-and-out ludicrous ("no, we cannot provide facilities for your family of ferrets"*), and almost all of them are merely variations of questions I've been asked before. This time of year, the most pressing question on the minds of incoming freshmen is "Where am I going to live?"

SO, its your first week of college! This is going to be awesome! No parents, no sibblings, you have gotten to know your (awesome) roomie online, and the sun is shining! Everything has been moved into your new dorm, and you are laughing it up with your quickly growing group of friends.

One of the dumbest, smart things I've ever done in my life was choose to go to a small college with even fewer people than where I went to high-school. If you are reading this than maybe you are thinking about doing the dumbest, smart thing too or you may have already done it. If you have you know that there are some very important things in your new life such as, books, tuition, loans, your car, and if you have one your significant other or friends.

College is a new and exciting chapter in every student’s life. It is rife with new challenges and experiences far different from high school. Your daymar college experience does not have to be difficult and disorienting even if it is your first time to be there. What is important is that you plan for it ahead of time and know what to expect during the semester. Knowing what to prepare and bring when you go away for college will also help make your stay more convenient and less hassling. Here are a few items that you should not forget to pack up for college.

More & more future college students & current students are relying on simply applying for student loans to pay for college. They aren't even exploring what other options are out there. As a result they & their parents are leaving a lot on the table. Simply by filling out the FAFSA form they can determine how much money the government is willing to give them to go to college. But they fail to make use of this opportunity.

After graduating high school I left the only town I had ever stayed in long enough to call home. I left my siblings, my family, my friends, and everything familiar to me for a six day road trip and summer travels before starting my Freshmen year of college. I knew I’d be back to pack my things and say goodbye so I was relatively comfortable leaving. It was just like any other summer I’d had. But I didn’t foresee that everything was going to crumble around my ears that summer

Now that it is mid-august and many school-leavers will be looking forward with slight dread and excitement to the start of their university careers I decided that a series of hubs dedicated to giving advice on this topic would be appropriate.

Whilst it has been a few years since I graduated and left Auld Reekie (Edinburgh) the experiences I gained and the knowledge I can pass on will prove invaluable. The best place would surely be freshers’ week!
